  • The cello has a very confident, balanced and accessible sound. It would suit a player going through the grades, through an academy and into orchestra playing. The A has a particularly beautiful, searing sound.

The King Arthur, 2023, £30,000

A velvety smooth, deep and powerful cello

  • With wider upper and lower bouts and Italian/English arching, The King Arthur has a chocolatey smooth, warm tone with depth, resonance and punch high up when needed. Paired with Thomastik Spirocore C & G strings for driving power and presence, and Thomastik Versum Solo D & A strings for high performance velvety punch, it has a particularly sophisticated and original sound.

  • Finished with varied depth coats of handmade Ruschil & Bailly oil varnish, “Nettare”, the cello has multiple tones ranging from transparent gold to deep red, which shimmer in the light.
